One Device, Many Uses

SurveyGizmo - Insights Box

During 2017 SurveyGizmo was exploring a push into bespoke hardware for point-of-interest data collection, centered around a modular piece of hardware dubbed the "Insights Box."

MY ROLE: Lead system engineer and hardware concept designer.

One Device, Many Uses

One Device, Many Uses

I designed the core hardware around a Raspberry Pi Zero W with a custom 40-pin HAT extension to handle power, input, and indicator LEDs.

A stripped-down Linux distro handled backend connection and data gathering services, allowing it to pull specific surveys for display on output systems via HDMI and USB micro.

With the Insights Box as the core, I conceptualized a number of real-world use-cases, utilizing custom input or display hardware that could easily be connected to meet different customer needs.

3rd-Party Integration, Easy

With myriad of connect methods and extensibility of the Linux-based hardware, the Insights box could easily connect with other hardware for integrated data connection, such as with badge scanners and time-clock systems.
